Members of the FTC Robotics Team recently visited the Concerned Father's Association to work with elementary students. The purpose of the visit was to encourage children to learn more about engineering and computer programming. During the session, children were assisted by FTC team members in the building and programming of Lego Robots to perform a series of basic tasks. The FTC Robotics Team, coached by Ms. Caryn Meirs, has garnered a number of awards in its inaugural season, but having the opportunity to share their expertise and knowledge with younger students has been the most rewarding experience.
The following was presented at the January 2013 Science Department Meeting. The focus of this presentation was to familiarize teachers with the Common Core State Standards and how their implementation will impact science education.
