2016-2017 World Language Department's Achievements & Announcements

This page is dedicated to the outstanding HHH World Languages teachers and their students! Our Department could not do great things without the support of our Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Kelly Fallon, and the Board of Education. We thank them for their continued support. The HHH community knows that World Languages + Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) = 21st Century Learner!

What do World Language Teachers Do BEST?

Read what World Language teachers have to say about their role in the lives of our students

We foster a multicultural awareness within our students.

We promote a love of other languages and cultures.

We inspire our students to want to learn a second language through creative activities which incorporate the four (4) learning skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening.

World Language educators promote bilingualism. We encourage all World Language students to become proficient in a second or third language. Culture is incorporated while we focus on all four communication skills.

We reinforce skills that are used in other content areas.

We provide memorable learning experiences for students.

We teach students to think outside of the box.

What we do best is … “We open students’ minds to accepting other cultural perspectives and backgrounds.”

We open doors and foster abilities to participate in a larger world (and to be the welcoming host to a new community and culture).

We prepare students to deal with all types of people. We encourage students to express themselves artistically and linguistically.

We foster an environment where students will express themselves in a second language. We provide a safe nurturing environment where students know they will be safe and respected.

We encourage dialogue, not monologue.

We teach language in a way that allows the student to relate to their own lives: their feelings, their ideas and their wants.

We include each child regardless of their skill level.

We encourage students to embrace diversity and find their true connection to the language that they are studying (and to eat delicious cookies!).

We open students’ eyes to the cultures of the world and help them to realize the similarities and differences that exist between their own culture and others.

We further the knowledge of their mother tongue by exposing them to another language.

We prepare them for the real world by providing them with opportunities to collaborate and practice public speaking and technology skills. We enhance their learning with knowledge of other cultures.

We enhance students’ knowledge of the global community and inspire them to develop cross-cultural connections.

Teachers inspire, motivate and encourage students to achieve high goals with in the classroom and beyond in order to prepare them as 21st century learners.

Teachers create an authentic atmosphere for students to learn the target language.
