Asset Recognizes HHH Teacher as "Bright Light" 2014-15
Allyson Uttendorfer, Art teacher at HS East, has been designated a “Bright Light” by the Association of Suffolk Supervisors for Educational Technologies (ASSET). This award is granted to a teacher who uses innovative technology enhancement in the classroom.
Six Half Hollow Hills Teachers to Participate in the Developing Teacher Leaders Program
The Long Island Network of Teacher Centers is committed to the process of developing teacher leaders. Through additional funding from the New York State Education Department 35 teachers from Long Island were selected to become teacher coaches and assist their colleagues with implementing the Common Core Standards. Half Hollow Hills is proud to announce the participation of six teachers; Dawn Giamalvo, Brooke Helmes, Amanda Kavner, Maria Lennon, Leslie Pilgrim, and Geraldine Sundermier.

Danielle Reed, a 1st grade Signal Hill teacher, has been designated a “Bright Light” by the Association of Suffolk Supervisors for Educational Technologies (ASSET). At the association’s January 18th meeting Ms Reed shared ways she is using technology to bring 21st century skills to her classroom.
Half Hollow Hills Cited by Apple Computer as a National Exemplary District for Second Year
Half Hollow Hills has been designated an Apple Exemplary Program for the 2010-2011 school year. The District now joins 39 other districts nationwide recognized for this honor.
The Apple Exemplary Program is reserved for educational programs that have demonstrated a strong use of technology in education and illustrate "best practice" qualities of a 21st century learning environment.
Half Hollow Hills was cited for the District's commitment to enhancing educational practice with technology and for providing the requisite support for teachers through professional development.
Apple representatives formally recognized the District with a presentation at a recent Board of Education meeting.
Half Hollow Hills Cited by eBoard as District With Greatest Number of Viewers
The District was contacted by eBoard, our teacher website host, with the news that eBoards have been viewed more than one and one half million times since September 2009. This is the most amount of "hits" recorded in one year by any of the hundreds of school districts supported by eBoard. The company reports that HHH teachers have exemplary websites and are often used to illustrate best practices in communicating information to parents and students alike.
